Hurjaruuth has opened applications for its winter residency programme for the period 28.12.2026–20.1.2027.
The call for applications is aimed at professionals in the independent dance and circus fields, and both individual artists and artist groups are eligible to apply for the residency. The residency period is free of charge for participants. Priority will be given to artists who create art for children or family audiences.
The residency space is the Hurjaruuth stage at the Cable Factory. The stage measures 250 m2 and features a sprung floor and a marley dance floor. The ceiling is approximately 3,5 metres high.
In addition to providing a rehearsal space, Talvihautomo aims to bring together artists and audiences and create opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. During the residency period, the artist-in-residence will organize an event open to the public, which could be, for example, a demo, open rehearsals, a discussion session, or another similar gathering.
Hurjaruuth is responsible for the audience arrangements for this technically low-key event and promotes the event through its own channels. Hurjaruuth pays a performance fee to the artists-in-residence. The artist-in-residence is responsible for the event’s content, arrangements, and promotion through their own channels.
In addition, Hurjaruuth offers peer mentoring with Hurjaruuth’s artistic, administrative, and production experts, based on the resident artist’s preferences and schedule.
Two residency periods at Hurjaruuth stage are available:
Period 1
Mon 28.12.26 – Sun 10.1.27
Public event on Fri 8.1.
Note: The space must be vacated starting at 4 pm on Monday 4.1. to make room for Hurjaruuth’s own activities. The residency will resume on Tuesday 5.1.
Period 2

Please note that by participating in the residency, Hurjaruuth becomes a supporter of the project being developed during the residency and Hurjaruuth should be mentioned in future communications as part of the project’s overall sponsorship and support structure.
