Clownery Lab Sessions

A night full of laughter! Red Pearl Clown Festival will host for the second time a clownery open stage evening. You can sign up for the evening with your completed or less completed clowning performance alone, as a couple or as a group.

Pre-selected clowns will perform short excerpts from their own works in progress or finished performances. The evening is a great opportunity to get a broad glimpse of the kinds of performances currently being created in the world of clowning.

The performers have 5-8 minutes on a black box stage. Performers are only allowed to have on stage what they are able to bring to the stage themselves. It’s strict but even diamonds get their glamour under enormous pressure!

The evening is run by a familiar face from Winter Circus Film, film director Tony (Riina Tikkanen). Tony will not compromise on the limits, but will ensure that the sessions run safely, with room for trials, errors, possibilities and, above all, creativity.

The duration of the Clownery Lab Sessions, including intermissions, is approximately 2,5-3 hours. The festival bar is open throughout the evening and afterwards for informal banter and entertainment.

The evening’s performers have been invited to the Laboratory Sessions through an Open call. The box office revenue from the Lab Sessions will be divided between the evening’s performances.

Read more about the open call that ended on February 16, 2026 here.
