Would you enjoy performing in the beloved Winter Circus show with a skilled team of other professionals, on the main stage of the Dance House Helsinki, Finland?
For the first time during the directorship of Jyrki Karttunen, Dance Theatre Hurjaruuth is now announcing an open call for circus artists for the 2025–26 Winter Circus production! The rehearsal and performance period will run from 22.9.2025–31.1.2026.
Winter Circus, produced by Dance Theatre Hurjaruuth, is a warm-spirited show for the whole family. It has been delighting audiences for 30 years, since 1994, in the city of Helsinki, Finland. It is an annual Christmas season tradition for a great amount of families and it also reaches new audiences every year. Overall, Winter Circus attracts more than 30 000 spectators yearly and it’s the much-awaited bright spot of winter for many.
The production and the ensemble is new every season. A special feature of the Winter Circus is that the performers are accompanied by live musicians and the music is even composed for this particular performance. The season includes about 10 weeks of practice (Mon-Fri) and about 7 weeks of performances (mostly Wed-Sun) and it runs from 22.9.2025–31.1.2026. Apply for the Winter Circus 2025–26 by filling in this form by 15.12.2024 at the latest. Please note that we will review the applications already during the application period and may contact some applicants for further information. We will contact all applicants February 2025 at the latest. The director, theme and the name of the production will be published at the beginning of the year 2025.
